About Us
In 2004 a golf tournament was held, in memory of Morrie Miller, with the hope of raising $25,000 to benefit the Winona Senior High School football team. The tournament raised over $75,000 that first year and enabled the event organizers to help support a multitude of Winona area youth sports organizations for both boys and girls.
The Morrie Miller Athletic Foundation was formed in 2006 as a non-profit organization. The events were expanded to include a 5k run/walk, a banquet featuring a keynote speaker, and the golf tournament. Community support has grown significantly each year and in 2014, over $300,000 was raised for youth athletics.
The Foundation continues to donate thousands of dollars to various organizations and is especially proud to have initiated the Community Track at Paul Giel Field, completed in 2010, in partnership with Cotter Schools, Winona Area Public Schools and Winona State University.
